stability is also a concern, but control isn’t. WHat shape would be the best for a small, foam sailboat in a race?

Catamaran with flat bottomed sponsons. Great stability, draws very little water, less mass than a conventional hull.

I want to work for Advantage Boats Inc. as my career. I want to design boats for this company and make the boat I have imagined for years. What classes should I take in collage? (I want to go to CSU or CU) P.S, I am a freshmen in high school and my mind is set on my career. What classes should I take in high school as well? Thank You! Should I go to AI collage instead also?

subcontract your design to a young naval architect; it will be faster, cheaper and more efficient in your relationship with this company. On top of that the young architect will tell you staright away if the project is worth pursuing or to be dropped.

It’s a class assignment, I want to be able to hold the most pennies in this boat, more than 100 pennies. What would be the best design for me to persude.

Fold two layers of heavy duty aluminum foil to a lidless box of about 9" x 9" base area and about 4" high sides.
Place in water………..add pennies carefully………….it’ll hold a lot of pennies.
Make a larger boat for a greater penny load.

With the introduction of the phenomenal new 310 Signature, we didn’t just push the engineering envelope, we shredded it. Taking full advantage of our patented Wide Tech technology, the 310 takes cruiser design to a new level with more style, more storage space, more cabin headroom and more performance than ever thought possible. Everywhere you look-the helm, transom area, even the galley Chaparral’s spark of innovation shines. Topside, the new 310’s standard fiberglass hard top provides ultimate all-weather protection and is reminiscent of cruisers 10 feet longer and twice as expensive. In the cockpit, you get a feeling of total security wrapped in unmatched luxury. Two cockpit seating options meet every need. Ultra refined, the 310 has an all-new cabin door, a carefree single level cockpit, all new helm seating and the finest workmanship imaginable. Below decks, the 310 is a marvel in space efficiency, elegance and workmanship. The aft cabin has considerably more inches of headroom than previous offerings. A clever optional air mattress system in the salon eliminates old-fashioned filler cushions on a boat that introduces a space-saving power ease forward berth that retracts at the flip of a switch. Showcasing a super clean look, the cabin is built with a fiberglass innerliner that even includes a ceiling liner. An oversized LCD television is mounted on a swivel bracket for viewing in both the salon and forward berth. The lighter wood tones of our River Cherry cabinetry create an open and airy feeling. What really makes the 310 state-of-the-art is the phenomenal use of space. The filler cushion for the aft cabin is part of the backrest. Additionally, the side mount cabin table stows in its own space under the dinette seat.

I’m looking for one that’s easy to use and good enough for freelance design.

If I’m designing highly complex boats to exact dimensions, I use AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Rhino (one of my early favorites where I do most of my professional modeling). But if I want a quick-n-easy concept design, then I use 3D Boat Design most of the time.

This particular software has a full library of marine engineering parts apart from a user-friendly interface. It also lets you design complex shapes from a simple surface… besides running simulations of how your boat will behave in real-world conditions.

All of these makes 3D Boat Design one of my favorites overall. When combined with specialized tools like Autoship or Orca3D, that’s all the software I need to develop powerful marine designs.
