What is the best cardboard boat design?
Author: admin
We have a science project to make a cardboard boat. The designs are due tomorrow. I watched a few youtube videos, but I still can’t decide on a design. This is due tomorrow, so please answer soon. The design we have so far (just a basic design, I don’t need the dimensions) is something that has a point on the end < square in the middle = and a > on the end. Please tell me if this is a good idea. Do I need a point on each end?
should the ends curve up so that the top is level? or should they come to a point, so that the front would resemble an X?
here is a strong cardboard boat design that can be lengthened for additional people

you do not need a point on the back (stern end). please review the above site for answer’s to your questions.
some tips:
A flat bottom is recommended. A V-shaped bottom is likely to tip over unless the V is very gentle.
The lowest center of gravity is the most stable; kneeling or standing will cause you to tip over.
Longer boats go faster, but they are harder to turn.
Boats shorter than 10 feet are difficult to steer.
For height, allow about 18 inches for you to sit and paddle effectively without the edge of your boat blocking your arms.
For width, figure about 18 inches for a kayak, about 23-24 inches for a canoe. Figure about 30 inches maximum for 1 person, 48 inches for two people.
hope this helps

I want a software download that’s not as expensive as AutoCAD or SolidWorks but still has all the pro features that independent designers need.
Based on your requirements, I recommend you take a look at 3D Boat Design:

It’s a powerful software for designing boats & ships that are a part of modern naval design. It does a pretty good job of building complex marine parts as well. There’s a full library for it.
Boat design using bbq sticks and plastic?
Author: admin
We have this project in Physics. We’re supposed to build a boat using only barbecue sticks, plastic cover, and scotch tape. It’s going to be tested by placing it in something like an aquarium and marbles are going to be put on it until it sinks. Each marble will have a corresponding number of points. We’re going to start doing it tomorrow and I don’t know how it should be done. Help? D:
the shape that will hold the most weight (marbles) is a shape like a square shaped cake pan.
the bottom should be flat. your challenge is to create this shape out of the materials that you have.
hint the sticks will define the shape and make it strong, the plastic will make it waterproof and the tape will hold it together.
examples made out of foil and cardboard (note the shape)

here are pictures of a pvc tarp boat that should help to show you how th build the sides and bottom frame

Minecraft Boat Dispenser
Author: admin
I wanted to build a multiple boat dispenser in my minecraft world because I kept having issues with my boats floating away into the ocean and cluttering up the place. After searching around a long time for tutorials on how to build one; I couldn’t find any… so I designed my own system.
This video demonstrates how it works and shows the design (so that people can copy it and maybe even improve it). The goal was simplicity. Basically, if I want a boat, all I need to do is push a button. It took a lot of tweaking to get it working properly because I had constant problems with the boats getting stuck. It seems to work now 100% without any boat jams.
My system holds 6 boats, but this number can easily be increased by repeating the boat hold pattern (6×8x3 space). Just make sure your dispenser button and boat holds are within 300 blocks of each other.

I am allowed to use a 12 inch dowel rod 2 Popsicle sticks and a max of 90 square inch sail. Sail is made of the same material as a filing folder. Thanks!
If the wind is coming directly from behind, then I think you can get the most out of it by exposing the greatest possible amount of surface area to the wind. So, this means the sail should be facing directly into the wind. As far as I can see, I don’t think the shape matters – rectangle, triangle, whatever.
The challenge here might be making sure that the boat doesn’t end up getting spun around. I think if the sail is mounted toward the front end of the boat, it would help prevent this. A decent rudder might help too.
Another challenge might be to make sure the sail isn’t so top-heavy that it causes the boat to flip over. For this, it might be best to have a wide and low sail, so that the forces are kept closer to the boat.
SeaVee 320 custom center console or cuddy cabin comes with eiter inboard or outboard motors and is the perfect fishing boat to perform offshore.
