Question says it all. can’t find any.

Contact a company in L.A. like Ceconite that makes the material used for fiberglass repairs on airplane wings. They will know who works with composites in your area; probably one of their customers.

I’d like to try building a wooden boat, but the book that I have is too advanced for a novice like me. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good book with plans for a novice builder? Thanks.

Check out West Systems Epoxy. They have a publication called "Wooden Boat".

http://WoodenSailboatPlans.com Quality wooden boat plans are crucial to your success in building wooden boats. First, choose the type of boat that you are planning to build. You may want to examine various types of wooden boat designs before committing to one certain boat plan.

I say go for your dream boat. Build more than one. If you want to build a boat for fishing or water skiing , sailing or kayaking, you have to plan the material and the design according to this.

So the first step would be to choose a design. This can be easily done through browsing through the internet. If you are building a boat for the first time you definitely should choose a less complex design which would be easy to build.

Next you either buy the patterns and plans and you can download the 3D software that gives you not one but thousands of plans and patterns to choose from with building methods for each.

You need to get the required material to suit the type of boat you have planned to build. But since you have planned to build a wooden boat you should learn to pick the right plywood for each part of the boat. When selecting wood for the stern make sure it is only white oak as this is very strong. A guide for choosing the best marine friendly wood is included.

The plywood for the bottom and the sides could be either cypress, or pine or as mentioned in the user manual. Since you need to put the plywood dimensions together you should get a saw for cutting, a planer, glue, epoxy, nails, ruler, T-shaped ruler, erase and pencils.
Start with fixing the sides in place according to the specifications in the manual, then move on to the stern which is very important. Next, turning the boat upside down fix the bottom and once again turn the boat and start fixing the seats.

One at a time you should fix all the parts in their respective places with the help of the user friendly manual that will be provided with each plan. Or if you are using the 3D design software it would be easier still.

Make use of the 3D software wooden boat plans that are available in abundance in the software. The software is a free bonus and you benefit greatly from this in the years to come. You can preserve it for a later time when you need to build a boat, or when you are requested by your friends to build a boat for them. You could make a good income with the software if you so desire. http://WoodenSailboatPlans.com

My son had a toy boat and my husband has recently attempted to make a remote controlled bait boat out of an old remote controlled car but the distance is not that good because when he is standing on the river bank it soon goes out of range at hardly any distance away at all. Any suggestion please on how this could be greatly improved???????????

Many thanks

The aerial wire on the receiver needs to be of the correct length, and at least a foot or so up in the air. The transmitter and receiver should have complementary crystals fitted, the batteries must be good, and of the correct total voltage. Any group of hobbyists around a pond on a weekend will be overjoyed to show off their gargantuan knowledge and trouble shooting skills if your husband can bring himself to approach them as a humble supplicant. Most of them seriously will be happy to help – it may be something simple or something very obtuse but you will find the weekend RC warrior has probably all the skills needed to trouble shoot any issue in moments – even if it is the answer no one wants to hear, "sorry mate, it’s buggered"..

An old broken and worn out radio control speed boat is sunk in the lake instead of being put out for the trash man. An onboard camera was put on to record the sinking. It was attached with velcro and tethered with a fishing line in order to recover the camera. A good pull ripped the velcro apart once the boat had sunk.

I used my popsicle stick rc tugboat to pull it out to the site where it would be sunk. Please see my other videos for a video of that boat with an onboard camera. Once at the site, the duct tape that covered the holes that were drilled in the hull was pulled off and it began to sink. Only the tug made it back to shore.
