My homemade fishing boat…
was drunk and wanted a boat.. so instead of building a tool shed.. i used my wood to build a fishing boat.. took about 3 weeks to build …. 14 feet long, 5 feet wide at top.. 4 foot wide floor.. 5×5 casting deck in front and 5×3 in rear…

Do you think a 40hp would be ok if we beef up the transom with a few knees and a little more glass.

and the top edge …
and the top edge all the way around i put 2 layers of fiberglass mat… 4inchs on each side… with the rounded shape of it, the 1/4 inch ply sides stiffined right up good..just doing the seams in fiberglass will greatly cut down the weight.. i used 150 lbs of resin.. plus the material on this… next one will be lighter n’ faster…

as for the …
as for the fiberglass.. i painted the entire boat inside n’ out with resin.. then put the mat over that… if you dont let a coat of just resin soak into the wood, the material will delaminate within a year or so.. and you can just do the seams in you want, and paint the rest of the boat with a good sealent… I built a 7 foot duck boat this year with 1/2 ply and that all i did.. glassed seams inside n’ out.. with a 55lb troller it will jump logs…lol..

@candlemat22 it …
@candlemat22 it was very safe… super stable.. in the shipping channel in the st. lawrence river it got scary with the big waves.. but after i jumped over a few and it didn’t break.. it was kinda fun… and as for price… I never really kept track.. and I worked at a fiberglass shop.. so the 150 gallons of resin I got for free
