Hi I only used local bought marine plywood ,there was no choices,remember to soak the wood first and the wood is hot when it comes out and you can reheat if needed ,I practiced on scrap wood first its not as hard as it seams,

Thank you for answering my question. I have a wall steam iron which I don’t use very much. I will build a box, thanks for the tip. I jus recieved half of a canoe. It has to be about 70 years old. It has some dry rot in the bow and the sides seem to be in fair condition considering the age. I will make the other half with stitch and glue and quarter inch plywood from local lumber. What type of did you use?OKUME is not found in CHICAGO and is exspensive.I am looking for a good deal on epoxy Thks

Hi DundoMarinko It was a labour of love, It was my mums wallpaper stripper with the piece you put on the wall removed ,leaveing the hose which I put in a drill hole at the bottom of the box,I was told to wet/soak the wood 1st,also big ship yards used to put the qood in the river before steaming/bending,
