I’m entering in a cardboard boat race at my school. I need some design ideas that will allow me to win. The problem is that I’m not in physics. My chemistry teacher just suggested it to me and I signed up for it because I thought it would be really fun. I know some things here and there from experiences, but I don’t really know exactly how to build one that will be really good and will allow me to win. If anyone has any tips and/or ideas, I would love to read them! Thank you.

Make this hydro hull from cardboard (not the stand it is on
It is a verry stable and simple design to build and way faster than other designs.
A batt powered el. motor with some straight prop shaft in the center hull and go set your 1/4 mile e.t !!

So I need to pick a country with a seaport and choose a famous sail boat from it. Then I need to make it so it is light and will float. Does anybody have any ideas for the country(I cant use USA and I want to do something nobody else in my class will do)? Also what do you think I should make it out of? Thanks!!
maybe choose Venice, Italy. All the city streets are water! I don’t know any sailboats from Venice, but I’m sure there are some. I used to make sailboats out of the styrofoam squares that the meats from our grocery store came in, used a skinny rod as the rod that holds the sails, then used tin foil.
Hope I helped!
What type of dinghy boat holds up the best?

I plan to purchase a small dinghy style boat, and keep it tied to a dinghy dock with many other boats. They can take a beating from the other boats while tied to the dock. Is it better to get a fiber glass one, or aluminum? What style of boat holds up the best?
Hello,
In my opinion Aluminium boats are better when dealing with small water craft and are fairly robust but they can be fairly rigid compared to there fiberglass counterparts.
Fiberglass boats tend to absorb shock better whereas an alumium boats will more likley dint in the same situation.
The downside to fiberglass is that over time the gelcoat will break down while being exposed to the elements.
Aluminium is low maintence boat, lighter and usually more effeicent hull.
If you boat is going to be hit regulary, I would suggest and fiberglass boat will be more durable.

I am doing a project where I have to build a boat and I was wondering if there was any type of software out there, at a reasonable price, that will help us.
It would also be great if anyone knew of any software that will help us put the blueprints onto a powerpoint form, it would be really cool if we could do that. Thanks!
AUTOCAD
SOLIDWORKS
these softwares allow you to map out details and measurements along with angles and other things.
I prefer autocad, because I am pursuing a degree in engineering, we frequently use these types of programs to design parts for airplanes and cars.
but the thing is, it is a bit pricey, students get a discount though.
I am entering a cardboard boat race and I need something that will hold 5 people. ( Three kids and two adults.) Please help!
When I made mine I used a design similar to a canoe and then made outriggers by rolling cardboard into a tube for stability. We won the race by a longshot, no one was even close to competing with us.
