It has to work, I have to paddle across a pool with a partner in it.

Assuming you have a large supply of cardboard, you want to give it a dual bottom hull for added stiffness. Give it a wide, flat bottom for maximum buoyancy and cover the sides and underside with duct tape for waterproofing. Make strips of cardboard the full width of the bottom and tape them vertically at regular intervals between the bottom layers of the hull. The cross section will look like this:

You will also want to brace the sides so that they won’t cave in from lateral water pressure.

Wear life vests, just in case!

Everything is hard wired but I plan on keeping the boat for the life of it so I don’t care if I have an hour meter. The reason I want to unhook it is because it clicks every 3 seconds and it drives me nuts.

All you need to do to unhook it is to remove either the ground wire (black) or the power wire(purple) from the back of the gauge. If you unhook the purple make sure you tape it up and tie-strap it to the harness because it could short out and cause problems.Hope this helps.

Im using coke cans to make a mini steam boat, one that is powered by heating copper wire with a candle. It has to be about 15-18 cm in length, and 4 cm wide. Any tips on how to make it so that it can go very fast? Including tips on how to stick the aluminum together without using glue or rivets or holes of any kind, but it can be folded, and must be inexpensive and light.

i have never heard of this. i have no idea on how it would even work

For science class in school I have to build a boat that is buoyant so can you please give me advie on which material is it best, easiest and fastest material I can build a boat with (since I have to finish this project in 2 weeks time). thankyou for ur answers =)
I would appreciate websites that tell you how to do this thanks =)
I don;t want it too big or too small no more than 25cm and I don;t want it to look messy thanks again lol =S

a boat can be made of many things…the buoyancy of the raw materials is not always that impotant. If it were, we wouldn’d have aluminum fishing boats, or steel battleships. If you are willing to add some structure to your boat, your options for materials are greatly improved.
Sure, stryrofoam floats on its own. But it isn’t used for boating, cuz it has very little durability. Even if you make it "structural", it’s bouyancy vs its size makes it an inefficient choice. Sure, it would weigh less than other boats, but it would take up a lot more room, or be able to carry less.
Wood is a great choice, especially if you get your hands on waterproof glue. Wood is great, because, like styrofoam, it floats on its own, even if the boat is upspide down.
Styrene plastic, which chemically is very similar to Stryrofoam, except it isn’t foam, is a great choice. It is the plastic that most of your model cars, etc are made of. It can be cut easily, often with a heavy pair of scissors. It glues quickly with the proper solvent. It is a nice choice if you don’t have wood-working cababilities.
You can also use cardboard, believe it or not. The cereal box kind is better than the shipping box kind, but whatever. When you are done gluing it all up, make sure it is sturdy. Then coat it with some oil-based paint. Let it dry for a day, and coat it again. Make sure none of the cardboard is showing through the paint. It will be waterproof, and it will float.
If you are lucky enough to find some parrafin(wax), you can soak it in that instead of painting. But I don’t know how big your boat is.

MY dad and me are going to build a fishing boat but we dont know who do we have to talk first in order to get our design approved

Are you going to take out passengers? If you take out more then 6 passengers for hire you need to have the boat built and inspected to USCG standards. If it is for personal use you do not have to have it inspected. The DMV has no authority over boat construction or usage, other then registration in many states. There are many companies that sell plans and kits for people to make their own boats. Just Google boat plans.

I am looking into building a steam boat style engine for a large boat project I am working on. It is my first and a steam engine seems most what I need. I know very little technical terms. Thank you!

Not at all impossible. But very difficult without extensive engineering knowledge and experience.

Best option is to purchase a steam engine and boiler from a builder, get your boiler attendant ticket and operators certificate and enjoy. To re-invent a couple of hundred years of technology from scratch will be very very hard to get right – and potentially lethal.

Is Obama’s "plan" to get enough people on the govt. payroll that they won’t rock the boat for fear of losing their only source of income in a crappy economy??
kelly………the govt. is bigger than just Obama’s cabinet.

Of course it is! Seems to working according to plan, too! Of course, no big deal for Liberals. They would much rather be on the dole than work anyway!

Part 21 is Step 18, the step when you finally get to power test the engine! You don’t need a boat to power test the engine. You must prime the straws every time you use the engine. And the first time you use the engine you should slosh some water around inside the engine so the little droplets of water can flash to steam and get your engine going. To start out put the candle flame in the middle between the front and the back of the engine.
